Reviews about Al's Restaurant
- 5 / 5By Bekah DwyerLong & positive review!!
My husband and I made reservations at Al's this past Saturday night to celebrate my birthday and our one year anniversary. We live in downtown Chicago and we're looking for a fine dining steakhouse and seafood restaurant to celebrate. When we arrived in our uber, the Vice President, Gary, was waiting for us outside- tuxedo and all. He opened our car door, greeted and welcomed us to his restaurant, and sat us at our table. When you walk in, the decor is very 20's romantic and elegant. We sat right next to the table where Frank Sinatra would sit when he would come and visit.
Our server, Bob, was a pleasure to talk to and was incredibly knowledgeable about their menu. Al's does not have an actual menu (except for the wine list), so he had everything memorized, from all their steaks and seafood, to the sauces and marinades they were prepared in, to every single side dish they offered as well as the appetizers and desserts. They have a full bar so you can order any drink you would like. For our appetizers, we ordered the lobster bisque soup and baked mussels with a Dijon sauce, both were delicious. For our meal, we split a New York strip with broccoli and asparagus as sides and glasses of red wine to compliment the steak nicely. The steak was phenomenal and cooked exactly to our liking. We were continually checked on by our server Bob throughout our meal and he made sure everything was as we ordered it. The Vice President, Gary, came around as we were finishing up our meal to tell us about the history of Al's. It has been family owned and passed down for generations and you can tell the dedication and care they have continued to give to the restaurant throughout the years. At the end, they surprised us with cinnamon gelato dessert to celebrate my birthday.
I have been to my fair share of fine dining restaurants, as I have lived in both New York and Chicago. This was by far the best fine dining experience I have ever had. My husband and I were treated like royalty and we had a magical and romantic evening. Next time we visit St. Louis, we will absolutely be back.May 20, 2017 - 4 / 5By Classie ElsberryI was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and beverages at Bristol Seafood Grill, and how they offer happy hour. I had their version of an old fashion and it was absolutely delicious...they also make amazing strawberry mojitos. Their food quality is superb and has a wonderful taste as well.February 10, 2017
